    I Don t Word Good

  1. "An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people."

    -Thomas Jefferson

On the ride home from work this evening I spent most of the drive thinking about this very blog. What often holds me back from posting more (which I really want to do) is that I am not the greatest when it comes to writing. I came to the realization that I’m probably better at crafting a story through my photographs than trying to sit here and string together adjectives to describe whatever event or activity I’m posting about. Don’t even get me started on the times I do actually post something and my mother then messages me correcting all of my grammatical errors.

When I had a think about what it is I liked from some of the blogs I read is that I often come away from them learning something. I too would like my own blog to be a source of learning for the people that stumble upon it. Take for example the “Cars & Coffee" post I made a few months back…I regret not singling out some of the photos I took that day and elaborating on some of those cars. I really feel that could have been a good platform to educate readers on one of my favorite subjects.

In conclusion to sum this post up, the photographs will still be here, but I will try to accompany them with better content. Expect to see more Wikipedia facts, (I love Wikipedia) thoughtful quotes, and some excerpts from some of the interesting facts I come across on a daily basis.

Also I’ve launched an archive of my images, you can find it here. It’s pretty sparse at the moment but my plan is to add to it over the coming months. (I have something like 25,000 photos to sort through) Every image should be available to download and if you would like to print one of my photos I suggest doing it through the site. I make 1% profit on prints sold through there.

So with all of that being said, yesterday morning I woke up at 5am to catch the sunrise here in Hoboken, the lovely Victoria (still half asleep) came with me. I had a particular photo in mind and spent most of the night before thinking about how to compose it. Unfortunately the shot I wanted didn’t pan out however I was still able to salvage the morning with a few sunrise snapshots. As an added bonus we walked over to Starbucks, grabbed a couple of coffees and hung out by the water. A satisfactory morning.

  2. Changing of the Seasons

  3. It's been over two months since my last post so I figured I'd resurrect my blog tonight. In an effort to spend more time photographing and sharing my images and less time editing them, I've started to utilize my camera(s)'s RAW+JPEG functionality. (For all my non camera geeks out there this means I'll be posting a lot more images that are in JPEG format and have zero editing done to them.) My intention is for this blog to become more of a diary than a showcase of some of my best work.

So to kick this party off I would like to share some lovely images I took of Victoria as the sun was shining through the windows of our apartment last night. As promised these images are straight out of the camera and were taken on my Fujifilm XE-2 with a Fujifilm XF35mm lens. Enjoy.

  4. Tuesday

  5. Today when I arrived home I decided to walk through the park as opposed to what I usually do, which is walk past it... As the sun was creeping lower and lower in the sky it provided me with some awesome light to photograph these blossoming trees in. For an added bonus a woman walking her dogs made a comment about the trees while the one dog was chewing on a garbage can. (I thought that was funny)

Enjoy the photos, I quite like the first one in particular.

  6. The Night Is Always Darkest Just Before Dawn, Or Until You Turn the Clocks Forward

  7. Over the last few years I've often read that what people call the winter blues is actually your body experiencing a lack of vitamin D. Long story short, the decreased amount of sunshine contributes to a lack of vitamin d in your body blah blah blah science science science... In some strange way I like to think that what happens to your body with vitamin D also happens with a person’s creativity. I always seem to struggle when it comes to photography during the winter months and a lot of this is due to the cold weather, the lack of sun or the Christmas hangover. So now that the days are getting longer (and warmer) I find myself getting the itch to grab my gear and go outside. I’m looking forward to the coming spring and I hope that they are filled with cool adventures that I can photograph and share with everyone on this blog (It will also be nice to improve on my writing skills too haha)

It’s has been a hectic start to the new year for me personally. Within two months I’ve moved in with my girlfriend Tori, in Hoboken. I’ve started a new design job, and purchased a new(ish) car! Finding time to go out and create has been tough, but things are starting to slow down now that the seasons are changing. So In celebration of the first day of spring, I’d like to share some stuff that I was able to scrounge up during the winter. Enjoy!
